Action Plan Letter

Hello!
I’d like to thank you again for completing the Parent Survey for Christ Lutheran Children’s Center. The responses were extremely positive, and the CLCC board was very pleased with the results.
While it’s always wonderful to hear what CLCC is doing well, we also place a heavy value on the suggestions you share with us on ways we might improve the center and your family’s experience as a whole, which is why I’m writing to you today.
The following suggestions were generated from the Parent Survey and are scheduled to be reviewed by the CLCC Board. Over the next few weeks and months, we will be discussing ideas and ways in which we may be able to implement some of these suggestions. Any updates to the larger items in the below list will be relayed to you once decisions have been made. Keep in mind that we always weigh a variety of variables, such as cost, state regulations, benefits to the children, and a variety of others.
  1. Healthier Foods: The CLCC Board is in the process of forming a Food Committee, which will consist of board members, parents, JW (our new cook), and some CLCC administration. Likely you will receive a survey in the next month or two, which will ask you to respond to some of the ideas that the Food Committee generates. We expect this process to take some time, so your patience, as we research options and costs, is greatly appreciated.
  2. Food Allergies: CLCC remains a peanut-free school. But due to the growing number of other food allergies, CLCC will be making some updates as to what outside foods (for holidays, parties, etc.) will be allowed into the school. For example, you may soon find that you’ll be asked to bring a specific food item for a class party, rather than be given an open-ended choice. These updates will be shared with you once they have been finalized.
  3. Parking: Teachers have been asked to park on the left side of the parking lot to allow for parents to park closer to the building.
  4. Improvements to the building: Funds are allocated each year for improvements to be made to the facility, both inside and out. As you are aware, our big project over the past year was updating and improving our playgrounds. We also applied fresh paint in many of the classrooms and bathrooms, replaced some of the bathroom tile, replaced all of the closet doors in the classrooms, and updated one of the children’s bathrooms. We plan to continue to make improvements each year, as funds allow.
  5. One-Time Donations for Teacher Gifts: We saw an overwhelmingly favorable response to the one-time teacher gift donation, which was first implemented last year. This year, we are asking that Room Parents be sure to make parents aware of approaching teacher birthdays, what gifts will be given, and other details that will keep everyone in-the-loop. Next year we will allow for payments to be made in installments, if desired.

The board is also considering some other suggestions as seen on the Parent Survey, some large and some small. As more information is known, we will share it with you!

As always, we appreciate your support and feedback. And if you have any other ideas or suggestions to add, I hope you will feel free to email me directly.
Warm regards,
