FAQ Phase 1
What is the vision for The Master’s Plan? A unified and focused church. With one sanctuary, one gathering place, and one center for youth ministry, the Master’s Plan will unite this dynamic, multi-faceted congregation. Christ Lutheran will continue to have a strong, varied ministry but The Master’s Plan will focus us to what we do best—making disciples through worship and children/youth ministries.
What is included in Phase II? Phase II includes a 1000 seat sanctuary, a large Commons area, and a multi-use youth ministry space. In addition to the building, we will expand our parking lot and pay off our existing mortgage on the Children’s Center.
What is the total cost of Phase II? At this point, it is estimated that the cost will be around 10 million dollars. However, with escalating building costs, this number will have to be revisited closer to breaking ground. Because of the total cost, we will have two back-to-back three year campaigns with the goal of being debt free in six years.
What is the goal of this campaign? Our goal is to raise five million dollars. The first $1.4 million will pay for and develop the additional land for parking. The second $600,000 will be pay off our existing debt on the Children’s Center. The final $3.0 million will be used to break ground for the new building. It is significant to note that before we build the new sanctuary, for a short time at least it will be the first time in our church’s history that we will be debt free.
When will we break ground for the new building? If all goes according to plan, we hope to break ground in the fall of 2009 near the end of the first three year campaign.
When will we be asked for a pledge? This is a spiritual journey. Throughout the fall there will be prayer services, devotional material, sermon series, small group materials and large group “can’t miss” events. We are not asking for a commitment until we all go through this journey together. The lead gifts, then, will be offered on October 28. For most of the congregation, their pledges will be received at a grand finale on November 5th.
What will happen to our current sanctuaries? Spirit Hall will be used to expand our sports ministry and continue to be our primary space for large group dinners and meetings. The upstairs sanctuary will continued to be used. It is an ideal size and design for weddings, funerals and special worship services.
