Meet Our New Youth Ministry Team

Meet Our New Youth Ministry Team

Pastor Melody - July 5, 2021

We have been searching, and we have finally found the right fit!! Several months ago, our full time Youth Director, Caroline Targonski, moved to Texas because of her husband Blake’s new job. Then, our part time Youth Director at Christ South moved on as well. So, we had two positions open. It was hard to cover the responsibilities of youth ministry, but with the help of wonderful parents, youth ministry still happened at Christ Lutheran.

We have had an amazing opportunity to reimagine the direction of youth ministry, and find people to fill these roles. We’re hiring a full time Youth Director and a part time Associate Youth Director. With my supervision and help, these two people will oversee youth ministry at all the campuses: Christ Providence, Christ South and Christ Concord. Together we’ll work with all the youth at Christ Lutheran, creating fun programs and helping grow the faith of our youth.

I would like to introduce you to our two news hires! Anthony Currier accepted the position of Youth Director, and Max Waterhouse is going to be our Associate Youth Director!

Anthony

Anthony is completing his Bachelor of Science in Youth Ministry Studies from Toccoa Falls College. He recently had an apprenticeship at Freedom Church in South Carolina where he focused on youth ministry but also did everything from children’s ministry to changing light bulbs. Anthony is originally from Ohio where he grew up Lutheran then changed to non-denominational after high school. His passion is studying the Word of God and sharing that with middle and high schoolers. I am excited about the enthusiasm and creativity that he will bring to our team.

Max

I have known Max since he was in high school. He attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where Pastor Matt and I were called before coming here. After high school Max attended Lenoir-Rhyne University. Max has worked at both Agape and Lutheridge camps and most recently worked on Disney Cruise Line as a Youth Activities Counselor and Cruise Staff Entertainer. Max is full of energy and hasn’t met a stranger. Max’s charisma is matched by his empathy for others.

Both Anthony and Max will join me and start collaborating with the team around July 15. I’m so excited about where youth ministry at Christ Lutheran is going! The gifts that these two amazing, faith-filled men will bring to our youth ministry team coupled with what we have imagined for our youth promises to be spiritually fulfilling for all of us!
