Peace, Mindfulness, and Compassion in Daily Life
Angela Davis, Director of Outreach - January 19, 2026
Hello Christ Lutheran Church family,
My name is Angela Davis, and I am honored and excited to serve as the new Director of Outreach here at Christ Lutheran Church. I am deeply grateful for the warm welcome I’ve already received and for the long-standing commitment this congregation has shown to loving our neighbors well. Outreach has always been central to who we are as a church, and I am excited to step into this role as we look ahead to a new year of serving together—with intention, awareness, and compassion.
Peace, Mindfulness, and Compassion in Daily Life
Recently, Charlotte was blessed with a visit from Venerable Buddhist monks, who came to share a message of peace, mindfulness, and compassion. My husband, our two young boys, and I joined thousands across the South Charlotte area to welcome them. People from all walks of life were there—rich and poor, well and sick, Black, White, and Brown—everyone was welcome.
Witnessing so many people come together for a shared hope of peace was truly incredible. While we are a Lutheran church and certainly not Buddhist, there is much to learn from this moment. It was a powerful reminder of what is possible when we pause, become mindful of one another, and lead with compassion. We should be able to come together like this in many other areas of life—not only when the Venerable Monks walk into town.
Scripture reminds us:
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
As followers of Christ, we are called to live with this same spirit—beginning each day grounded in peace, mindful of our reactions, and compassionate in our interactions. Outreach is not only something we schedule; it is something we practice daily.
Celebrating 20 Years of Partnership with McClintock Middle School
As we move into 2026, we have much to celebrate—especially 20 years of partnership with McClintock Middle School through McPIE. For two decades, Christ Lutheran Church has shown up consistently for students, families, teachers, and staff.
This partnership reflects peace through presence, mindfulness through listening, and compassion through long-term commitment. Rather than quick fixes, this ministry has been rooted in relationship—walking alongside a community, understanding its needs, and responding with care. It is a beautiful example of what outreach looks like when we stay grounded and faithful over time.
Spring Family Night Programming & Volunteer Opportunities
This spring, we are excited to begin Family Night programming, creating intentional spaces for families to gather, connect, and grow together. These evenings are designed to be welcoming, calm, and joyful—places where families feel seen, supported, and valued.
These programs invite us to serve mindfully, to be present with one another, and to lead with compassion. Volunteers play a vital role in creating this environment. Whether you enjoy working with children, offering hospitality, or supporting behind the scenes, your willingness to serve helps create spaces rooted in peace and belonging.
Coming Soon: Outreach Calendar
In the coming month, we will be sharing an Outreach Calendar highlighting our Quarter 1 outreach events. This calendar is an invitation to be intentional with your time—to choose opportunities that allow you to slow down, show up, and serve with purpose.
Each event reflects our commitment to mindful outreach—meeting people where they are, responding thoughtfully, and acting with compassion in our community.
A Thank You to Our Volunteers
I want to close with a heartfelt thank you to our volunteers—those who have served faithfully for years and those who may be feeling called to step in for the first time. Outreach happens because people are willing to show up with open hearts and willing hands.
When we serve with peace in our spirits, mindfulness in our actions, and compassion in our hearts, we reflect Christ’s love in powerful ways. Together, we can continue being a church that not only does outreach—but lives it.
I look forward to serving alongside you in this new season.
With gratitude,
Angela Davis
